Upfront – 10

Greatly appreciated both Graham Stanton & David Jones’ sessions helping us to think through culture in light of God’s Word/the gospel!

Graham Stanton – 10
Elective Choice –
Sat Elective – Mitch Smart – Gospel & Gender   10

Really appreciated Mitch’s insights into the gender issue which is a current hot topic within our culture!

Sun Elective – Stu Hoadley – How To Create An Effective Peer Group   10

Really helpful in thinking through what a good & healthy peer group for young adults might look like! Also great to think through various personal experiences, listing what was positive or negative about them.

Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   9

Great to hear from people serving in different contexts/cultures, and thinking through how their experiences can impact & change how I minister.

Workshop – 8

I think it was a productive time with my team, thinking through a particular cultural issue we have with regards to wanting to impact kids in our local state schools, but having most of our youth come from Christian schools.

Connect Time – 6

Being the last YNET Conference with my current team, I think I may have wanted to spend more time with them, and so consequently, I spent less time trying to invest in meeting others. I missed the mixer on the first night! Definitely would have liked to have been forced to mix with others!

Team Time – 10

Definitely! This is one of the highlights of my YNET Conference weekends!

Venues – 8

I always find it difficult to sleep on the bunks in CMS.

Great food, as always!

Only comment would be with regards to the sound system. It felt like there were a whole lot of issues with the sound system this year.

The speakers, the worship, and the atmosphere of expectancy/eagerness to learn and grow – brilliant! It was a fantastic weekend, and we feel privileged to have been there (We didn’t get to it all). Were encouraged and reminded in many area of our Christian walks. Thanks heaps to all the YNET team for all your hard work.

We attended Friday night, Saturday morning, Sunday morning. Although we didn’t get to an elective on Saturday, we had a group time, and all those who went to electives gave us a good rundown of what they’d learned and how helpful the electives were for them.

Sat Elective – Kylie Buchanan – Training Kids To Be Welcoming   10

So good. Loved having smaller intimate group to talk to and share with (people from other churches ) there was so much ‘my church team time’ it was refreshing to talk with not ‘my church’
Kylie’s ideas and getting us to think through ideas were fantastic. So good.

Sun Elective – Ron Clark – Magic With Ron   7

Nice to think about sharing gospel in a memorable way
Might be nice to let us try and do some tricks (to remember better) I’m a kinesthetic learner

The day trip price of $80 is quite a lot for a couple of meals.
Maybe you could add a day trip with no meals option (I know a few people who did that anyway, but having it as an option may encourage more to come).

I know next year is only the 3 days over a weekend, but I would suggest it remain that way even if it is a long weekend.
The Monday always seems to drag. For a long weekend we could finish late afternoon on a Sunday and then many people would still get a day off to recover from the weekend.
Also Adelaide didn’t have a long weekend so it required them taking a day off study/work.

All went well however When Dave mentioned he’d received a long text from the staff about driving on the grass it would have been a great opportunity to help see that not driving on the grass was a way to love the staff at Tamborine. It was a little cheeky and a laugh but a missed opportunity for us to show grace to them, then it seemed to cascade a bit. It seemed to lead to Danny’s sarcastic remark from the front about not dropping rubbish and “blessings” from the Tamborine staff. While it was funny and called out their passive aggressive text it may not the most loving way to deal with it and modeled harsh and unloving public rebuke to the whole conference. Then lead to James praying at lunch from the front and mentioning the now harsh in-joke “Blessing”. It seemed kinda harmless at the time but I think we really want to deliberately model grace from the front. I love you guys and what you do hope this isn’t too harsh 🙂

David Jones – 9

Great passage selection. Good pacing. Liberally peppered with helpul analogies great to have such an experienced preacher just ooze humble grace as he preached.
While there were moments of “angry old man” – they were actually loving older brother rebuke. He did at one point talk about the difference between evangelical and evangelistic which when over the head of most of our team and required some explanation at length during team time. This was not a bad thing and a great discussion to have just wish he’d explained the terms more with a bit less asumption.

Graham Stanton – 8

Very helpful but pretty high levels of thought and understanding were needed. He did a fantastic job of making it clear and relevent but I found the team longing to have an even more practicle understanding or at times feeling a little defeated at not being able to understand what he wanted them to do during the activites. Danny’s sum up and talk to people was really helpful. Dave’s sum up at the end was also really helpful – bringing clarity and practicallity to complex ideas is a real gift of Dave’s.

Elective Choice

Fantastic so many and all very helpful. My team felt fired up, excited and equiped!

Sat Elective – Mitch Smart – Gospel & Gender   8

Great! Would have been even better if he’d done some of the thinking of how to explain this topic to our youth for us but I realise that is a big ask.

Sun Elective – Stu Hoadley – How To Create An Effective Peer Group   9

Very practicle and helpful. Could have used more time.

Testimony – Kylie Buchanan (Country to City) + Mitch Smart (City to Country)   7

Over all a great topic and way to present it. Not sure if the two people interveiwed were heaps thought through on what they were going to say.

Workshop – 7

Great but again kind of confusing for many in the team he did a good job of helping people even amidset that confusion

Comments about upfront sessions:

David Jones – 10

Clear, insightful, directly from the Bible and hit the mark on relevant application.

Graham Stanton – 6

Quality of material = 10
Presentation = 8
Accessibility = 3
My team was definitely punching above their weight trying to grasp and digest the material presented. Probably a couple of levels too high for the intended audience.

Elective Choice

I was torn between four or five electives, and all of them seemed relevant to YNET ministries

Sat Elective – Carolyn Russell – Mind Over Culture   7

A 10-15 minute pairs or small group workshop to apply the material to ministry would have made this elective a 10 for me.

Sun Elective – Stu Hoadley – How To Create An Effective Peer Group   8

Good material presented, excellent practical stories, really helpful sharing exercise about +ve & -ve experiences of church as young adults.
Great practical advice on deliberately cultivating gospel culture in ministry group.

Testimony – Ryan & Mel Dehnert (Refugees) + Betsy Cunningham   10

Really well compered/hosted. Well chosen interviewees who had some very well observed and thoughtful insights into Iranian & Afghan refugee culture, and prevailing Australian culture.

Workshop –

Was Graham Stanton’s workshop with the questions about the hypothetical refugee community? This was pretty advanced missionary anthropology, and I don;t think our team benefited from the exercise. Again, the quality of the material rates as a 10, but the accessibility drops to a 1.

Connect Time – 10

Mealtimes, freetime and after supper provided heaps of opportunity to connect. Loved it.

Team Time – 10

I thought 8.5 hours of free time and team time was really good. We probably spent 4.5 hours ministry review & planning, 4 hours resting, refreshing & connecting with other people.

Upfront – 8

inciteful

David Jones – 9

The last morning session talk was really good and thought provoking about how to best equip the future generations.

Graham Stanton – 7

His points were interesting but I felt the cultural stuff was common sense. However it did lead to some interesting discussion in team time and it will hopefully help expand the ‘culture’ of the church.

Elective Choice

There were a great selection of electives to choose from.

Sat Elective – Wes Fittell – Teaching With Impact   10

Wes provided us with some basic but very effective skills that will make teaching the bible more interactive and hopefully more for the children. I am super keen to put these skills into practice and hope that by making a few small changes the children will gain a much better understanding of the bible.

Sun Elective – Thomas Lowther – Teaching The Old Testament For All It’s Worth   10

The old testament can be quite a difficult topic to teach and get people excited about. Thomas spoke about the old testament in a way that I had not really thought about before and I think it will come in handy for teaching Sunday School.

Testimony – Kylie Buchanan (Country to City) + Mitch Smart (City to Country)   3

I didn’t gain anything from this talk.

Workshop – 7

The scenarios provided some talking points about the social stigma that is assigned to people from a different background to you.

Connect Time – 6

There was a large group of us from cairns that came down so although there was time during meals and electives the rest of the time was spent with the team in sessions and hanging out.

Team Time – 10

It was good to spend time with the rest of the team as we hardly get to meet during the term as work schedules get in the way.

Good time of singing and worship. The guys who led the sessions did a pretty good job!

David Jones – 10

David is awesome! His gospel-rooted talks were easy to understand, convicting and .

Graham Stanton – 8

Graham’s talks gave me useful insights into sharing the gospel with people from various cultures. The “postures and gestures” part was really useful to me.

Personally, I found Graham’s first two talks to be a bit too technical and a little difficult to comprehend. But overall, his talks were quite useful.

Elective Choice

Good choice of electives to choose from

Sat Elective – Stu Hoadley – Foundations Of Youth Ministry   8

As a new youth leader, I found this elective very useful.

Stu explained many models of youth ministry and the pros and cons of each.
However, we didn’t have enough time to go through everything in detail so the last bits were quite rushed.

Sun Elective – Ed Springer – Building A Missional Culture   10

Ed gave many practical tips for building a missional culture which I found quite useful.

Testimony – Ryan & Mel Dehnert (Refugees) + Betsy Cunningham   8

Was good to hear from Ryan, Mel and Betsy about their ministries.

Workshop –

Personally, I didn’t find the Sunday workshop too useful. However, some of the practical tips Graham gave were really good.

Highlight

– Convicting talks (Especially David Jones!) with practical examples were useful.
– Ed’s “Building a missional culture” elective was personally useful to me.
– great for building fellowship, within ministry teams and also a good opportunity to meet with teams from other churches.

Improve

Maybe including a little event/activity to get to know people from different churches – like splitting into many tiny groups and doing an activity (might be helpful for introverts who may find it a little hard to just go up to someone new and talk!)

Upfront – 9

I really enjoyed the upfront sessions, especially the different formats.

David Jones – 10

I found them really great to think through and helpful instruction.

Graham Stanton – 10

Very interesting, confusing at times but became clearer as the weekend went on.

Elective Choice

I thought that there were lots of good electives to choose from and had difficulty just selecting 2

Sat Elective – Tammy Jones – Big Truths For Little Minds   9

(Due to fault on my end) I did not expect the elective to be aimed at ages as young as it was. It was still really helpful and useful and can be applied to what I do.

Sun Elective – Thomas Lowther – Teaching The Old Testament For All It’s Worth   9

I think the elective was great and had lots of helpful information. It would have been better if there had been more time to complete it and think about it. I was really challenged by the applications that we should be aiming for

Testimony – Ryan & Mel Dehnert (Refugees) + Betsy Cunningham   9

Really interesting to get the perspectives of Ryan and Mel and their experiences, I learnt a fair bit and will hopefully come across some scenarios to apply it. Betsy was interesting, but being observant and from another culture I was already well aware of a lot of what she was saying. She made some very interesting points about when to best help. It would have been good to have a little more time for the workshop.

Workshop –

I found it really good and challenging to work through, I think some of the people around me found it a bit too confusing.

Connect Time – 7

I found that most of the time was spent with my own ministry team, and even if there were opportunities to connect with other churches I tended towards not making very much use of them.

Team Time – 10

Absolutely, really helpful

Venues – 10

Really enjoyed the accommodation. I thought that the venue is really nice and located in a good area. Found that the rooms were large enough to fit all people without being too squished in.

Food – 8

Being part of the small crew who had dietary requirements I found that often when there was a pre-prepared meal for me there was not enough food.

Value – 9

I found it really helpful and it was especially useful for team engagement.

Highlight

David Jones talk on 1 Corinthians 10!

Improve

I think it would benefit from having more of a culture of mixing churches and groups. To me it seemed very much every team there as a team.

Graham Stanton – 9

good subject coverage & process to cover a spectrum of Culture perspectives when centred back well to how the Gospel looks in action despite culture.

Sun Elective – Ben Manfield – Thinking Evangelistically & Giving An Evangelistic Talk   7

Ben was covering his experience of his church’s reviewing on being better at reaching out – evangelistically

Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   9

Upfront – 9

Thank you for all the effort that went into preparation of the upfront session (from the talks, to music, to discussion time). I found these sessions both encouraging and enriching.

David Jones – 9

I know its difficult finding a passage that relates to a topic, but i appreciated very much having expositional preaching.
i found the talks both relevant, confronting and insightful. Thank you!

Graham Stanton – 8

I appreciated all the effort that went into preparing these talks. I thought the talks were very dense, rich with thought and insights. Thank you for condensing them in a way that made them more accessible.

Speaking with some other leaders, they found some of the talks and activity sessions a bit difficult to follow or piece together.

Elective Choice

There were so many great electives! as a first-timer to the conference i wanted to go to all of them!
Perhaps recommendations for which elective people should attend based on their leadership experience could be helpful.

Sat Elective – Wes Fittell – Teaching With Impact   10

I thought this elective was fantastic. I wish I had gone to this elective four years ago when starting kids ministry.

Sun Elective – Kylie Buchanan – Prayer   10

This elective was ‘unimpressive’ but so helpful and so important. It encouraged me to think about how different methods to integrate a key part of our christian walk (prayer) into kids ministry.

Testimony – Ryan & Mel Dehnert (Refugees) + Betsy Cunningham   10

It was so encouraging hearing about missionary work in action. Especially encouraging hearing from an older lady who has so much passion and energy for sharing the gospel. Was taught by more than words. These guys should be invited to speak again if possible : )

Workshop –

I thought this time was so valuable for us as a ministry team.
It helped implement the things we learnt and get excited about implementing things from the conference that will help grow our kids. I highly recommend that ministry teams make this a compulsory event for their whole team.

My only comment is that perhaps providing an outline or a structure for this session could be helpful for new teams or new leaders that are starting ministries or dont know where to start with this time.

Connect Time – 5

Mainly had time with my team from the way that the discussions were predominantly team focused. I thought this was good for unifying our team though. I didn’t choose the accommodation option though and was out of the conference for dinner and breakfast.

Very good! Was quietly glad we did no mixers :).
Both speakers talks complemented each other and I appreciated how they built up over the weekend. The workshop Sunday morning was a great idea.

David Jones – 9

Very good, it was a tricky passage to work through but I appreciated his explanations. It took until the 3-4th talk for it to ‘click’ but the struggle with it was good.

Graham Stanton – 10

Great! I want to show my staff his talks on culture and the gospel to help with our curriculum planning (Christian School Teacher)

Elective Choice

Comments on elective choice:

Sat Elective – Carolyn Russell – Mind Over Culture   10

It should have been a workshop for the whole group. Very good to think through.

Sun Elective – Fiona Millar – God’s Upside Down Kingdom   10

Loved it! So helpful to think through little things we say and do that can share the Gospel and highlight how very different Gods kingdom is to our world.

Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   8

Very good. Appreciated hearing about their ministry and got some encouraging ideas.

Workshop – 7

Helpful, and a good thing to do. It was a little confusing. An step-by-step example first may have helped. Still valuable.

I appreciated the discussion questions a few years ago that could be used as a guide for team time. They are probably more helpful for teams that have no one in a paid position overseeing the ministry.

Music was fine, maybe a bit slow at times. There were no other real elements of praying for ministries (we heard about some different ones), but maybe that could be useful – so that we are praying for things in our denomination, or even each others ministries.

David Jones – 10

Really got a lot out of it – a vessel well used by God

Graham Stanton – 8

Insightful comments and input. Could have given us more time to do apply the culture issue to our own situation, by cutting the example in the ‘workshop’ on Sunday much shorter.

Elective Choice –
Sat Elective – I DID NOT ATTEND SATURDAY ELECTIVE
Sun Elective – Stu Hoadley – How To Create An Effective Peer Group

I gave some feedback to Stu. I was thinking it would apply for youth, but was only focussed on young adults. Also, could have spent more time focussed on tips and hints, and have a handout to take away to remind us of key things.

Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   9

Both spoke really well and had helpful insights and things to take and use.

Workshop – 5

Spent too much time on the example, which might not have applied to all teams etc. Better to have more time for teams to delve into their own situations.

Team Time – 7

Could maybe have use the Sunday morning timeslot for this more.

Comments about Bible talks:

Graham Stanton – 9

Found talk 1 and 3 excellent. Found the seminar structure one hard but it could have been me being tired and distracted.

Elective Choice –
Sat Elective – Mitch Smart – Gospel & Gender   8
Sun Elective – Peter Kutuzov – How To Listen So People Feel Heard
Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   10

Tony and Nat were excellent. Found myself thinking about how I can implement Tony’s model of invite your friend to a small social and get the others there to talk to them about Jesus.

Nat’s work is awesome. I pray that these young people will meet Jesus through his work and find a place of acceptance and healing from a broken world of sin and shame.

Workshop – 6

I didn’t like the format, felt the group was too large for this style. I did like the questions posed and feel that I can apply this.

Connect Time – 9

Comments on time & opportunity to connect with other churches:

Team Time – 10

I like the format of reflecting straight after the talks. I find this really helpful.

Venues – 8

I stayed at wec. It was great and really enjoyed the ensuite bathrooms. Curtin’s would be nice to block out the light that doesn’t go off until 12:40am or the sun.

Food – 6

There was lots of it but made my whole team really feel gassy.

The tables needed wiping down after meals.

Value – 8

I think it would be better to have only breakfast and a seminar day 3. The lunch adds extra cost that doesn’t really add anything. Particularly when all the rooms have to be cacated by 9am.

Highlight

Spending time with my team.

Refelecting on how I can view people as though they are in a quest to meet Jesus and how I can play my role to help them meet him.
Reflecting on times I have been a spiritual bully and wanting people to behave like they are already Christians at the same maturity that I am.

So good! Learnt a lot but also really appreciated the debrief time with my team following each session to piece it altogether

David Jones – 10

Again so good! I liked the way he laid it all out, and had a good mix of info that was challenging, encouraging, and super practical

Graham Stanton – 10

Likewise to David I found graham spoke in a way that challenged and encouraged me in general and specifically to youth leading

Elective Choice

As I have never been on ynet before I would have been keen to go to just about every elective offered / the hardest part was too many interesting electives!

Sat Elective – Stu Hoadley – Foundations Of Youth Ministry   10

Stu did great at reminding me exactly why is it we do youth ministry, and I enjoyed how he used so many practical examples

Sun Elective – Dave Hopper – Changing The Culture Of Your Small Group   10

Yes! Loved it! Definitely feel encouraged to not just try and manage my small group culture, but to give it direction and try and influence it in a way that encourages my girls to God

Testimony – Ryan & Mel Dehnert (Refugees) + Betsy Cunningham   10

So good! Really loved hearing people’s experiences with culture as I think it complemented all the information we were getting in the sessions. All speakers did a great job at sharing in an engaging way

Workshop –

I found the Sunday workshop a little hard to follow, but maybe was just a reflection of my levels of tiredness haha. I would have liked to focus more on thinking through some of those questions specific to our culture at youth group, as we ran of time a bit, but still found the session helpful 🙂

Connect Time – 8

Good amount of free time in the Arvos and nights! Always a tricky balance to know how much to try and meet lots of new people vs continue building solid connections with my team. Possibly would have liked more of a chance in the electives to meet other leaders given we all chose the same elective for a reason, but otherwise yeah, really enjoyed connecting with so many people

Team Time – 9

Really enjoyed the debrief sessions after each talk and all the team time we had! So good!

Venues – 10

Yep great! Loved the lodges

Food – 10

Super impressed by the quality of food given the amount of people on camp!

Highlight

After most church camps I really don’t want to go home, as I would love to just continue learning and spending time with gods people in gods word, but what I loved about ynet was I actually was ok leaving at the end because I am super excited and pumped to go back to youth group now. It has given me more energy and motivation I think to serve more intentionally in that ministry so thank you so so much for helping me in that!

very engaging and definitely challenged me. He didn’t shy away from speaking God’s truth which has helped to really look at whether I am fully engaging in everything God is teaching me through His word

Graham Stanton – 8

Found it very helpful to unpack culture and how it influences the way other will see and respond to the gospel. What is good news?? A very challenging idea and so relevant to everyone who is trying to speak to someone about Jesus. Great tips as well!!

Elective Choice

A good range of electives to choose from. I find electives such a great place to really learn specific skills relevant to my ministry and a place to be able to discuss challenges with other and learn and share with others. I would really love to be able to do more than 2 electives over the whole weekend and willing to sacrifice free time to do this.

Sat Elective – Catriona Pine – All Kinds Of Kids   8

Really helped me to think about how we conduct our kids program and whether this is helping or hindering the children with disabilities. And what ways I can partner with the parents to improve this so that these kids can clearly and easily hear about Jesus.

Sun Elective – Thomas Lowther – Teaching The Old Testament For All It’s Worth   8

Really helpful to think through reading the old testament for what it is, how it was written, the intended audience and how this should then relate to how we read the new testament; rather than reading the old testament how it fits into our world. And then once understanding this, being able to unpack it and teach it to children with relevance and a link to Jesus

Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   7

So encouraging to see how God has placed these men in different environments and provided ways for them to share the gospel. Was really challenged by Tony encouraging us to be the ‘serious Christian’ from the start so everyone knows that’s who you are and also took away some useful ways to engage better with sharing the gospel with friends and family in a non-threatening environment

Workshop – 6

struggled to relate with the topic of refugees. I understood the activity and the purpose of trying to think about the whole situation, getting to know the people and their culture and engaging through similarities and comfortabilities. Would have been more helpful to pick a ‘culture’ that was more relevant to the majority of people

Really very helpful in thinking through how to love people and removing obstacles that we bring with us so as to engage them in their culture to reach the gospel. I did feel that there were just a couple of times where applications of the text seemed to clash with Graham’s approach. That is, I felt the application of the text seemed loving at a shallow level – but if it were pushed further with the cultural analysis that Graham was urging, would not be helpful (or maybe I need to change my thinking…) clearest example of this was the idea of a church in a gay bar. Sounds loving and bending over backwards to reach people with the gospel – but given the cultural things that Graham was speaking about, the gay bar seems to be a cultural artifact that is telling a story, and representing values which would compromise that of a church meeting there and the effects on anyone who is saved from within that gay bar culture, to stay in that location after salvation seems not loving… (but then again, maybe my posture is too fixed and I need some more flexible gestures…)

Graham Stanton – 9

Really Very helpful. Quite abstract and many a shared confused stare were had, but helpful for us to be considering the broader picture of loving those around us – and really helpful to think about ways to understand people and shared experiences/meaning/etc in order to love and bring the gospel.

Elective Choice –
Sat Elective – Ed Springer – Building A Missional Culture   9

Lots of really helpful stuff – I valued it highly. I was challenged and somewhat rebuked as I considered my own leadership in light of the seminar. It was somewhat abstract – I don’t know if it’s possible, but felt like stories of these principles applied and what they actually look like would have helped me grasp even more.

Sun Elective –
Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   10

Nat’s passion and engagement was great. I love Tony’s thoughts on evangelism. I think he was left in a slightly tricky position: Did his method of “I talk to your friend about Jesus, you talk to my friend” actually work? Is it producing a helpful evangelistic culture on campus – or is it a good idea that has never actually worked in practice? I assume it must be somewhat successful and positive for you to bring him along to share. But then he can’t really get up and say “It’s So AWESOME – this is the best ever!!” without everyone rolling their eyes, so perhaps a third party briefly mentioning what they have seen of the fruit of the ministries and sharing what is positive would be helpful for the listeners, and mean the speakers would not have to blow their own trumpets – or leave us wondering what the situation is in real life…

Workshop – 5

It was OK, it did get us thinking helpfully as a group. I think I would have preferred unstructured team time…

David Jones – 10

Highly relevant to myself as a young person and could be applied to many different areas of life and ministry. I had not looked in depth through these chapters before and was challenged by what I learnt.

Graham Stanton – 7

Sometimes confusing and difficult to understand, but still very helpful and informative.

Elective Choice –
Sat Elective – Mitch Smart – Gospel & Gender   9

Highly relevant to uni life – really important to talk about this topic as Christians as its so easy to quickly judge. This talk challenged me in that.

Sun Elective – Dave Hopper – Changing The Culture Of Your Small Group   10

Highly relevant to my churches small group. Learnt many practical tips for how to run a small group more effectively.

Testimony – Nat Carse (Correctional Centres) + Tony Rowbotham (University Ministry)   9

Nats talk was so encouraging as he talked about it being Gods plan and not his own, that God had it all sorted out. It also helped me to see in practice how the gospel can be explained to people in different situations and contexts.
Tony’s experience in the uni context were very similar to my own, it was encouraging to know how God is working in other areas around Australia.

Workshop – 7

Was easy to misinterpret the questions presented sometimes, however was still good as I could apply what I did understand to those around me.

Connect Time – 4

I found most churches stuck to themselves and left during breaks to do their own thing. This seemed a bit disappointing as I feel there were great opportunities during these breaks where people could get to know one another. This often made it difficult to connect with others.

Found this session probably the least helpful of sessions, mostly because I think working with “hypotheticals” is tricky. Alternatives offered for dietary requirements (with the exception of the nachos and burgers) was poor and substandard. It appeared it was a hassle to cater for dietary needs.

Comments

I’d neve been to ynet before, and was really impressed by the quality of the event. Each session was helpful and well presented. 4 adults in 1 room at TL was too cramped, a bit more space in dorms would have been good. Overall, I thought that going for 4 days over a long weekend was a bit too much, it would have been good to go to Sunday afternoon and give people Monday to travel/rest/recooperate.

I was a bit confused about what the objective was, particularly as I’ve spent a lot of time working with refugees and people seeking asylum.
